Paintings | Personal Work

MIXED

My painting and illustration work explores bold color, pop culture, and expressive portraits across digital and physical media. I prefer to sit between the digital and analogue processes and fluidly blend genres & techniques to fit my personality with the vision.

"29.08.14" Digital Painting

This piece is one of the more ambitious personal projects I have undertaken and a leap into photorealism. As I have been transitioning my creative outlets into the digital painting world, one person has been incredibly patient with all of the highs and lows, the moments of elation and the ones full of aggravation. So I wanted to make my next work all about her. Of course, I'm talking about my supportive wife!

Paint Pouring

This paint pouring project was an experiment of combining traditional techniques and digital creative processes. Here, these pieces take an authentic organic structure from natural acrylic pouring but gain a greater sense of fluidity through post-manipulation and focused enhancement.

"Eclipse City" Digital Painting

When we found out that our cat, Clipsy, had cancer, it was difficult to not feel helpless & to know where to place all of that emotion. Over the past decade, she had traveled all over the US with my wife and I. Clipsy was one of the shyest creatures I'd ever known, but over the years, she became more and more brave and eventually overcame her fears (mostly) of people, traveling, and the wind. I began this piece as an ode to her. As one of my first digital paintings, I've overcome my apprehensions and anxiety in this realm just like she had in her life.

Art Wars is a Denver-based Star Wars art exhibition. As a life-long Star Wars fan, I was ecstatic to have received an invitation to enter an original piece. At that current time, Daft Punk had just announced their official retirement, which was devastating to a Daft Punk fanboy such as myself. This became a golden opportunity to pay homage to two of the greatest influences on art and pop culture. Apparently, there were like-minded individuals at the exhibition, as this piece sold on the first night.

"Onward" Digital Illustration

During my time at JanSport (under VF Corporation), I joined the leadership team of ACE Diversity, an employee resource group focused on supporting inclusion and equality in the work place. I served as a co-chair on the Communications pillar. The series shown above was created to celebrate our mission and initiatives for specific heritage and cultural celebrations. This series was adapted accordingly to represent different groups amongst the vast workforce.
